All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Hometown Food Drive - Nov 17-21

For the 10th year, American Insurance is sponsoring the 2025 Hometown Food Drive, (M-F) November 17 – 21 to fill the shelves at our local food banks.

10 Tons for our 10th Year!

More the 80 Hometown Business Partners, their employees and the public are expected to give more than 20,000 lbs. (10-tons) of food to our local food banks in Lewiston, Clarkston and Moscow.

Federal cuts to USDA Programs plus continued inflation in food and housing costs threatens to make food insecurity a crisis! Food insecurity for the under-employed, young families, veterans, retired and disabled has never been more urgent. Food banks in Lewiston, Clarkston and Moscow report a big increase in new requests for food and shelves need to be refilled.

“This food drive has become one of the largest area drives for the foodbanks at Community Action in Lewiston, Asotin County in Clarkston, and Palouse Cares in Moscow, that desperately need to restock their shelves now,” said John Sullivan, Chairman at American Insurance.

USDA cuts to programs is deep

Steve Small, manager of the Community Action Food Bank in Lewiston (pictured right with empty shelves) said, “opening the government will not fully solve this growing food-insecurity problem. Even if SNAP (food stamps) are partially restored, the recent cuts to USDA Program funding and the elimination of the Commodity Credit Corporation program (CCC) in Idaho is creating a shortage in our food availability pipeline going forward 6-months and longer.”

Small said, “We are seeing increased new demand for food assistance, particularly among low-income seniors and younger, low-income working families.”
